The World Health Organization (WHO) is currently developing the WHO Indoor Air Quality Guidelines for Household Fuel Combustion. These guidelines will contribute key information to encourage and support the introduction of practical policies for cleaner household energy. They will also complement the work of the UN Foundation Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves and more broadly the UN Secretary General’s special initiative “Sustainable Energy for All.” Berkeley Air’s Senior Scientist Michael Johnson is involved in the project as a lead author of the chapter “Linking Household Energy Use with Indoor Air Quality” and a co-author on the chapters, “Emissions of Health-Damaging Pollutants from Household Stoves” and “Household Air Pollution and Exposures: A Global Review.”
