About Ricardo — Ricardo is a senior research associate with Berkeley Air Monitoring Group, having joined in early 2017. His primary research interests are cookstoves and household energy use in the developing world, low-cost air quality monitoring, and pollution exposure assessment and modeling. His dissertation research was part of REACCTING, a project in Northern Ghana performing personal, microenvironmental, and regional air quality measurements as part of a cookstove intervention study. He has lead development of improved exposure monitoring systems, including a Bluetooth-based proximity sensing system. He received a BS in Mechanical Engineering at UC San Diego, and later an MS and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at CU Boulder. He lives in Boulder, Colorado.
