ISO Cookstove Standards and Guidelines

Berkeley Air has participated in working groups to improve and standardize cookstove testing, monitoring, and evaluation. Berkeley Air was deeply involved in the development of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) International Workshop Agreement 11:2012: Guidelines for evaluating cookstove performance. The agreement is serving as interim guidance for rating cookstoves on four key performance indicators: fuel use/efficiency, total emissions, indoor emissions, and safety. Berkeley Air is currently a member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group for ISO/TC 285 for Clean Cookstoves and Clean Cooking Solutions. The group’s aim is to develop formal performance standards and guidelines for cooking and heating technologies.
